Bouaké Municipality: Four New Proximity Colleges Enrich the Educational Offerings of the Gbêkê Region

The inauguration of four new proximity colleges in the municipality of Bouaké was a vibrant and festive occasion, drawing a large crowd. These schools, which began operations on October 10, 2024, are part of an effort to strengthen the educational infrastructure in the Gbêkê region.

Built under the Compact Program, the new colleges are in Mamini (Brobo), Sinzékro (Diabo), Krofoinsou (Botro), and Tiéplé (Bouaké).

The Tiéplé and Mamini colleges, built on a base of 4, offer a total of 16 classrooms, with a capacity to accommodate up to 640 students. In contrast, the Krofoinsou and Sinzékro colleges, built on a base of 2, have eight classrooms and can hold up to 320 students.

Each college is equipped with a computer room, a library, changing rooms, separate restrooms, and a designated space for girls, known as the "Girls Room," in addition to other facilities.

The establishment of these proximity colleges demonstrates the government’s commitment to bringing education closer to families, making it easier for students to stay in the educational system. "These colleges now give students from the four localities, as well as those from neighboring villages, the opportunity to continue their secondary education nearby," said Marie-Joséphine Allangba, a student in Bouaké.

These new educational facilities represent a significant step forward in the development of these regions and highlight the authorities' determination to address the needs of local populations. "From these educational establishments, leaders will emerge who will play a key role in Côte d'Ivoire's socio-economic growth and its influence on the global stage," noted Karim Bamba, a sociologist.
