A Ivorian delegation led by Minister of Digital Transition and Digitalization, Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, is in Paris to participate in the France Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence, which opened on February 10, 2025.
At this summit, co-chaired by India, participants will discuss the various issues surrounding AI. While AI offers significant benefits through tools like ChatGPT, the conversational robot from the American company OpenAI, it also raises concerns due to potential risks such as job loss, personal data security, misinformation, online scams, and other internet-related threats.
On Tuesday, Minister Konaté, head of the Ivorian delegation, will represent President Alassane Ouattara at the summit of Heads of State, government leaders, and international personalities at the Grand Palais. They will engage in discussions on the diplomatic, political, economic, ethical, and legal aspects of artificial intelligence.
Following this high-level plenary session, which will also involve major organizations, civil society, and creators, a "Paris Declaration" will be read. This declaration will focus on "strong principles on the protection of rights, the environment, information integrity, and intellectual property." Additionally, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to unveil a plan for a network of ten major public supercomputers dedicated to public research or open to European start-ups. These powerful computers are crucial for training and operating AI models.
The summit is also expected to result in the creation of a foundation for public interest, funded by both private and public actors (governments, philanthropic organizations, businesses...), with a goal of raising 2.5 billion euros over five years.
In addition to attending the summit, Minister Ibrahim Kalil Konaté will also take part in other activities during his visit.
