Visit of Invest International CEO to Abidjan: Strengthening Infrastructure Projects with €300 Million Dutch Investment
On January 13 and 14, 2025, Mr. Diederick van Mierlo, CEO of Invest International, the public investment bank of the Netherlands, visited Abidjan. This visit follows the memorandum of understanding signed in October 2023 between the Netherlands and Côte d'Ivoire for a €300 million investment aimed at financing public infrastructure projects in the country.
During his visit, Mr. van Mierlo met with Ivorian Prime Minister H.E. Robert Beugré Mambé and several other ministers to review the priority projects included in this funding agreement. In-depth discussions also took place with relevant technical ministries.
The projects align with the National Development Plan (PND) 2021-2025 and reflect Dutch expertise in key areas such as water management, coastal protection, maritime transport, and marine infrastructure. Ongoing projects include the coastal protection of Port-Bouët, modernization of the San Pedro fishing port, mobility in the Cocody lagoon, and urban infrastructure development in San Pedro.
H.E. Jeroen Kelderhuis, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Côte d'Ivoire, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “I am pleased to see that this investment represents a win-win partnership combining attractive financing, knowledge transfer, and co-creation.”
This partnership between Côte d'Ivoire and the Netherlands marks a milestone in the financing and implementation of major infrastructure projects, reinforcing the country's sustainable economic development while strengthening bilateral relations.
