The Ivorian quartet has revitalized African sounds by blending them seamlessly, resulting in over a decade of career success with numerous hits under their belt!
Following the success of their debut track "1er gaou," Magic System continued to impress with songs like "Bouger bouger," "C'est chô, ça brûle," "Kit dit mié," and "Même pas fatigué."
They made a comeback in 2014 with "Magic in the Air," produced by RedOne. In April 2015, Magic System released another hit, "Sweet Fanta Diallo (Adieu Soleil)," a cover of Alpha Blondy's track.
Originating from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Magic System emerged in 1996, drawing inspiration from the zouglou movement. Their debut album, "Papitou," released in 1997, enjoyed significant national success in Ivory Coast. However, it was their second album, "1er Gaou," that propelled them to fame in France. Released in 1999, the album's title track, remixed by Bob Sinclar in 2002, quickly climbed the charts.
Their continued success included collaborations such as "Bouger bouger" featuring Mokobé of 113 and "C'est chô, ça brûle" featuring Akil, Cheb Bilal & Big Ali. Celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2007, Magic System released "Kit dit mié," followed by "On va samizé," featuring Amine.
In 2008, their album "Zouglou dance" featured the eponymous single and "Même pas fatigué," a duet with Khaled that topped the charts. The album also included cameo appearances by Franck Ribéry in the music video.
Their subsequent album, "Toutè Kalé," released in 2011, featured tracks like "Chérie coco" and "La Danse des magiciens," with guest appearances by footballers Yaya Touré and Gervinho, rapper Kamini, and others.
Magic System's achievements were recognized with the release of their first best-of album, "D’Abidjan à Paris," in April 2012. Their leader, A’Salfo, was honored by UNESCO as a goodwill ambassador for promoting peace through music.
In June 2013, Magic System released "Mamadou," followed by "Magic in the Air" in March 2014. Produced by RedOne, the latter became an anthem of joy upon its release.
Their album "Africainement Vôtre" dropped in May 2014, featuring hits like "Tu es fou." They embarked on a tour, including a performance at Olympia in September 2014.
Magic System paid tribute to Alpha Blondy with "Sweet Fanta Diallo (Adieu Soleil)" in April 2015, leading to the release of their album "Radio Africa" in June 2015.
In 2021, Magic System released their album "Envolée zougloutique," showcasing their signature sunny, festive tunes with a touch of social commentary. They continued to delight fans with live performances at festivals across France in the summer of 2023. (NRJ)
