Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship Program 2025 for Young Africans (Seed Grants of 500 USD)

Applications are open for the Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship Program 2025. This program empowers young leaders engaged in achieving the SDGs who do not have access to educational opportunities, networking experiences, and peer exchanges.

The scholarship includes the opportunity to participate in international forums, network with changemakers, engage in specialized training and workshops, and benefit from peer mentorship during the program.

This year, the Ban Ki-moon Center will select 14 young African leaders passionate about promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Selected fellows will also be tasked with proposing and implementing their own SDG micro-project in their community during the fellowship period (April to December 2025). SDG micro-projects are localized projects that address one or more of the SDGs in a community and local context.

Application Criteria:

  • Young Africans from any country on the continent, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation
  • Age group : 20-35 years old
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong dedication to the SDGs and global citizenship ideals
  • Candidates must provide proof of a good level of English (B2 level – European standards)
  • Candidates must have completed at least a master’s degree (in exceptional cases, the successful completion of the first year of studies will suffice)

Benefits:

  • Fellows will attend the MCI Summer School on "Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development" and receive additional specialized training with other entities or individuals.
  • Fellows will also receive peer mentorship from BKMC alumni.
  • Fellows will receive a 500 USD grant to support their project and will benefit from project management training and guidance throughout the project proposal and implementation process.
