Abidjan, September 16, 2026 – During a press conference dedicated to the demolitions carried out on June 3, 2026, in the Campement neighborhood of the Koumassi municipality, Public Prosecutor Braman Koné informed national and international public opinion of the progress of the investigation opened since June 10, 2026, as well as details providing a clearer understanding of the circumstances under which the events occurred.
The press conference took place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Abidjan-Plateau Court of First Instance.
According to the Public Prosecutor, judicial inquiries are ongoing, and several persons of interest who may hold relevant information for establishing the truth have been interviewed. These include the Minister-Governor of the Autonomous District of Abidjan, the Member of Parliament for Gouméré/Tabagne, the Mayor of Koumassi, among others.
"The hearings of the aforementioned individuals and the analysis of various collected elements have enabled investigators to better determine the involvement of each party beyond that of Mr. Alloui Brou Jacques. Hearings are continuing," he maintained.
For the time being, Braman Koné revealed that a formal request was submitted to him by the Senior Investigating Judge to contact the Prosecutor General at the Abidjan Court of Appeal, aiming to petition the Bureau of the National Assembly to authorize proceedings against the implicated Member of Parliament: "Sufficient serious and consistent evidence against the MP is available."
Following the demolitions, Braman Koné recalled that Mr. Alloui Brou Jacques—who claimed responsibility for the events in a widely shared social media statement by citing a court decision—was placed under a committal order.
"Our verifications established that the court ruling cited by Mr. Alloui Brou Jacques did not authorize any demolition of structures. He had submitted two requests to the court: one for eviction and another for the demolition of the homes he claimed in Koumassi Campement. The court only authorized the eviction from 5 homes, without demolition," explained the senior magistrate.
The Public Prosecutor also presented the exact surface area of the space affected by the demolitions in the Koumassi Campement neighborhood, along with the registered or pending land parcels located within this perimeter.
"It emerges that the impacted zone covers a total surface area of 6.8 hectares and encompasses 250 lots spread across seven blocks, 28 fully owned parcels backed by a Final Concession Order (ACD), four fully owned parcels backed by a Land Ownership Transfer Certificate, eight parcels with State Land Titles, five parcels with division files currently being processed, and finally 205 parcels without land titles," he detailed.
He concluded by clarifying: "The site in question has been placed under judicial custody until further notice by judicial requisition."
