Abidjan Bypass: Minister Amédé Koffi Kouakou Announces Y4 Completion by End of December 2025

Amédé Koffi Kouakou, Minister of Equipment and Road Maintenance, announced that the Abidjan bypass, known as Y4, will be completed by the end of December 2025. The announcement was made on Thursday, November 20, 2025, following a guided visit to the construction site to assess progress.

The minister was accompanied by his colleague, the Minister of Trade and Industry Souleymane Diarrassouba, the Coordinator of the Infrastructure Project Coordination Unit in Côte d’Ivoire (CC-PRICI), the Director General of Ageroute, and the administrative authorities of Songon and Anyama.

The site visit began at the Songon junction on the Dabou road and ended at the Ébimpé Stadium in Anyama, passing through the North Highway. The minister observed significant progress on the works.

“The first section from Boulevard Coffi Gadeau to Ébimpé Stadium is 100% complete. The section from Coffi Gadeau to Alépé road is 100% done. From Alépé road to Ébimpé Stadium, works are about 98%. From Ébimpé Stadium to the North Highway, 99%, and from the North Highway to Songon junction, over 90%,” he said.

Based on these observations, Minister Amédé Koffi Kouakou solemnly announced: “The good news is that the 55 kilometers of the Y4 will be fully completed by the end of December.” He added, “We will now await instructions from the Prime Minister, who will coordinate with the President to decide on the inauguration date.”

The minister also confirmed that there will be no toll on this Abidjan bypass.

Despite some challenges, including drainage and landscaping issues, the work has generally progressed well. The minister congratulated Ageroute and all project supervision and execution teams for successfully completing this major infrastructure project.

“In about a month and a half, everything will be finished, and Ivorians will be able to travel under very good conditions, according to President Alassane Ouattara’s vision,” he said.

With the completion of the Y4, traffic congestion and city bottlenecks in Abidjan will become a thing of the past.
