On Thursday, March 19, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food Crops, Bruno Nabagné Koné, received a delegation from the World Bank led by Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligira, Division Director, at his office. The meeting aimed to review the portfolio of agricultural projects financed by the World Bank in Ivory Coast.
During the meeting, Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligira reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector through structured budgetary assistance, complemented by tailored technical support.
In response, Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné expressed his gratitude for this ongoing support and assured the delegation of his ministry’s full commitment to working with the World Bank to achieve this shared goal.
The Minister also highlighted the strategic importance of agriculture in the Ivorian economy and presented his department’s vision, based on five pillars: food sovereignty and security, competitiveness of agricultural value chains, sector financing, rural land security, and sustainability of production systems. These pillars are intended to sustainably improve the living and working conditions of producers.
At the conclusion of the discussions, both parties agreed to develop a joint operational plan aimed at mobilizing initial funding before the end of 2026.
