Organization and Modernization of Agriculture: Three Bills Presented by Minister Bruno KONÉ and Unanimously Adopted by Members of Parliament
The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Crop Production, Bruno Nabagné Koné, appeared before the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee of the National Assembly on Thursday, March 12, 2026, to present three important bills aimed at strengthening the organization and modernization of the agricultural sector.
The first bill concerns the ratification of Ordinance No. 2025-85 of February 12, 2025, establishing the Rural Land Information System of Côte d’Ivoire (SIFOR-CI). Designed as a reference digital registry, this system aims to modernize rural land management by ensuring the registration, preservation, and automated processing of data and documents relating to land rights.
The second bill relates to the ratification of Ordinance No. 2025-86 of February 12, 2025, which extends to the coconut sector the regulatory, monitoring, and control framework already applied to the rubber and oil palm sectors. Through this reform, the Government intends to give new momentum to coconut production and enable Côte d’Ivoire to regain a prominent position among the world’s major producers and processors of this resource.
Finally, the third bill ratifies Ordinance No. 2025-259 of April 23, 2025, which extends to the shea sector the rules governing the marketing of cotton and cashew. This measure aims to further structure the sector by transforming shea nuts into high value-added agricultural products capable of generating greater income for the populations who depend on them.
At the end of the discussions, the three bills were unanimously adopted by the members of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee present, marking a significant step in strengthening and modernizing Ivorian agricultural sectors.
