The fourth phase of tariff dismantling under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Côte d'Ivoire and the European Union (EU), which came into effect on January 1, 2026, includes 1,074 tariff lines.

The information was announced by government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly following the Council of Ministers meeting held on August 5, 2026, in Abidjan.

"In accordance with the schedule agreed upon by the parties, preferential access to the national market is granted to European Union products over a 10-year period, divided into five tariff dismantling phases running from 2019 to 2029. The fourth phase of tariff dismantling, which entered into force on January 1, 2026, includes 1,074 tariff lines resulting from the migration of the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET) from the 2017 version to the 2022 version of the Harmonized System," Amadou Coulibaly stated.

Products originating from the European Union covered under this tariff dismantling phase are exempt from customs duties when imported into the national market.

This measure implements the provisions of the free trade agreement relating to the fourth phase of tariff dismantling as agreed upon by both parties.

The first, second, and third phases of tariff dismantling began respectively on January 1, 2019, January 1, 2021, and January 1, 2024.
