Côte d'Ivoire Showcases Tech Advancements at 1st FrancoTech Edition in Paris

On Friday, October 4, 2024, Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Digital Transition and Digitization, Kalil Konaté, presented the nation's technological progress at the inaugural edition of FrancoTech, held in Paris.

Speaking during a panel discussion, Minister Konaté outlined the country's policies aimed at establishing Côte d'Ivoire as a technological hub within the Francophone world. He highlighted the country's ambitions in artificial intelligence (AI) and emphasized how these advancements are intended to drive economic, social, and cultural development. A key focus of his speech was the construction of data centers to store local data, which he described as a crucial step towards ensuring digital sovereignty.

FrancoTech, organized by Business France and the General Secretariat of La Francophonie, took place alongside the Francophonie Heads of State Summit. The event brought together five Ivorian startups from various industries to showcase their innovations.

In addition to Minister Konaté, the event was attended by Mamadou Touré, Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service, and Souleymane Diarrassouba, Minister of Trade and Industry, both of whom participated in discussions about Côte d'Ivoire's digital future.

Côte d'Ivoire is determined to establish itself as a major player in the digital economy, with ongoing efforts to strengthen its technological infrastructure and AI capabilities for long-term development.
