Côte d'Ivoire: Dozens of Cocoa Trucks Blocked at the Port of Abidjan

In Côte d’Ivoire, the world’s leading cocoa producer with nearly 1.4 million tonnes expected, producers are raising concerns about difficulties in marketing their cocoa.

According to two agricultural unions, the main bottleneck appears to be the non-issuance of the bill of lading by the Coffee-Cocoa Council, an administrative document required to export cocoa abroad.

As a result of this blockage, numerous trucks have been stranded in recent weeks around the ports of San Pedro and Abidjan, waiting for the green light to unload their cargo, destined for export.
