At the 34th Regional Conference of the FAO for Africa held in Nouakchott on April 16, 2026, Bruno Nabagné Koné presented Côte d'Ivoire’s experience in transforming agro-food systems and outlined five key government priorities for the sector.
Accompanied by Adama Kamara, he emphasized that Africa is at a decisive turning point in its agricultural development and noted that Côte d’Ivoire has already integrated these priorities into the preparation of its third National Agricultural Investment Program (PNIA 3).
The five priorities include accelerating the structural transformation of agro-food systems through competitive and industrialized value chains, strengthening resilience to climate change through sustainable agroforestry models, deepening regional integration for more resilient agricultural markets, using digital technology to improve productivity and innovation access for small farmers, and reinforcing farmers’ social protection while promoting the blue economy.
Under the leadership of Alassane Ouattara, Côte d’Ivoire aims to strengthen its position as a leading agricultural power in Africa and worldwide, notably as the world’s top producer of cocoa and cashew nuts.
