The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Production held discussions on Wednesday with a delegation from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to explore potential financing for key agricultural projects aimed at strengthening Côte d’Ivoire’s rural economy.
The Minister, Bruno Nabagné Koné, met with the IsDB delegation led by Regional Director Dr. Nabil Ghalleb. The talks focused on reviewing a portfolio of agricultural initiatives eligible for funding, as the government seeks to accelerate the transformation and sustainability of the country’s agricultural sector.
Dr. Ghalleb reaffirmed the Islamic Development Bank’s commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural ambitions, emphasizing continued partnership in development financing.
On his part, Minister Koné welcomed the Bank’s sustained engagement and reiterated the government’s readiness to deepen cooperation in line with a shared vision for rural development.
He also outlined the ministry’s strategic priorities, including strengthening food sovereignty, improving the competitiveness of agricultural value chains, expanding access to agricultural financing, securing rural land tenure, and promoting sustainable production systems.
Agriculture remains a central pillar of Côte d’Ivoire’s economy, and authorities have in recent years intensified efforts to modernize the sector and attract greater investment from multilateral partners.
