Côte d’Ivoire has ratified a cooperation agreement with Italy aimed at strengthening joint efforts in migration management and security, the government announced following a Council of Ministers meeting.
The decree formalizes an agreement signed on March 22, 2023 in Abidjan, establishing a structured framework for police cooperation between the two countries.
The accord focuses on enhancing mechanisms for the prevention and repression of terrorism and organized crime, two growing security concerns in the region.
According to the government, the ratification of the agreement is expected to improve operational capabilities through closer coordination between Ivorian and Italian security services. It also aims to reinforce strategic and diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Officials said the partnership reflects Côte d’Ivoire’s broader strategy to strengthen international cooperation in combating transnational security threats and improving national security resilience.
