Côte d’Ivoire and UNDP Strengthen Environmental Cooperation

The Government of Côte d’Ivoire and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing environmental sustainability following a recent working session between the two parties.

The meeting brought together a delegation led by Ms. Blerta Cela, UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, and the country’s Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development. According to information released after the discussions, talks focused on strengthening cooperation in key areas, including climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Both sides also addressed the mobilization of innovative climate financing mechanisms and the integration of environmental objectives into public policies. The collaboration forms part of the new Country Programme Document (CPD) framework guiding cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and UNDP.

UNDP reiterated its intention to continue providing technical and strategic support to the Government, particularly through partnership development and initiatives aimed at promoting a green and inclusive economy.

Côte d’Ivoire, which has committed to several international climate and environmental agreements, faces ongoing challenges related to deforestation, natural resource pressure, and the impacts of climate change. The strengthened partnership is expected to contribute to more resilient and sustainable growth.

No specific timeline or funding figures were disclosed following the meeting.
