Côte d’Ivoire and UNFPA Launch 9th Cooperation Programme for 2026–2030

Côte d’Ivoire and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) officially launched the 9th Cooperation Programme (CP9) for the 2026–2030 period on Thursday, March 5.

Aligned with the National Development Plan (PND) 2026–2030, this five-year program aims to strengthen human capital, considered a key driver of economic growth.

The launch ceremony brought together government authorities, technical and financial partners, as well as representatives of the private sector. The agreement was signed by Souleymane Diarrassouba, Minister of Planning and Development, and Saïbou Kaboré, UNFPA Resident Representative.

The CP9 is being implemented in a context of sustained demographic growth. The objective is to transform this potential into a socio-economic advantage through public policies that promote health, economic empowerment and the production of reliable data for planning.

The program focuses on three main priorities: maternal and neonatal health and family planning, prevention and response to gender-based violence, and the improvement of socio-demographic data systems to support better planning and efficient allocation of public resources.

According to the Minister of Planning and Development, the program reflects the strong partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and UNFPA and supports the implementation of the National Development Plan 2026–2030.

Through this new cooperation cycle, Côte d’Ivoire aims to strengthen human capital, improve the effectiveness of public policies and support the country’s structural economic transformation.
