The Ivorian government and Visa have reaffirmed their partnership to strengthen digital payments and financial inclusion in Côte d’Ivoire, following a meeting between Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and Tareq Muhmood, Regional President of Visa for CEMEA.
During the audience held in Abidjan, Visa reiterated its commitment to expanding its operations in the country, with a particular focus on digital payment systems, financial inclusion, and support for economic growth.
Tareq Muhmood described Côte d’Ivoire as “a fantastic environment to continue expanding our business and support financial inclusion as well as the country’s ongoing economic development.”
Present in Abidjan since 2017, the global payments company also expressed its intention to contribute to the development of tourism by facilitating transactions for visitors and economic operators.
The Ivorian authorities, for their part, welcomed Visa’s renewed interest, viewing digital finance as a key driver of modernization and economic transformation in the country.
