Côte d’Ivoire at AfDB Meetings: Development and Innovation Highlighted

The Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Souleymane Diarrassouba, took part on May 28, 2026, in Brazzaville in the official launch ceremony of the 2026 Annual Development Effectiveness Review (ADER), chaired by Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group, in the presence of the institution’s vice-presidents. Dr. Diarrassouba attended in his capacity as AfDB Governor for Côte d’Ivoire.

The 2026 ADER documents the Bank Group’s contribution to advancing the continent’s priorities through the end of 2025 and reflects the institution’s strategic refocusing around the Four Cardinal Points: unlocking Africa’s capital potential, restoring the continent’s financial sovereignty, transforming demographics into a dividend, and building resilient infrastructure supported by competitive value chains. The report highlights total approvals of $10.9 billion, expected to generate approximately 750,000 direct jobs and 3.3 million indirect jobs across the continent.

These orientations align with the priorities of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan 2026–2030 (PND), which places investment in human capital and the strengthening of transport and energy infrastructure at the center of the country’s growth trajectory.

During the ceremony, Ivorian startup Djoli was showcased. Specializing in impact measurement through satellite imagery, drones, and data science, the young company presented its monitoring work on AfDB investments under the Bélier Agro-Industrial Hub Project (2PAI-Bélier).

“Human capital is at the heart of Côte d’Ivoire’s new development cycle. What Djoli represents—young people using technological tools to serve our agriculture is precisely the model we intend to encourage and scale up,” said Dr. Diarrassouba, praising the initiative as a source of inspiration for Ivorian youth seeking value creation opportunities.

On the sidelines of the Annual Meetings, Dr. Diarrassouba held several bilateral meetings with technical and financial partners in preparation for the Consultative Group meeting scheduled for July 8–9, 2026, in Abidjan, a key event for financing the 2026–2030 PND.
