Placed on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, Côte d’Ivoire is working to meet all the required conditions in order to be removed from the list. The information was announced on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan-Plateau, during a report on the Council of Ministers meeting chaired by President Alassane Ouattara.

As part of its efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing (AML/CFT), the Ivorian government is prioritizing the strengthening and security of Côte d’Ivoire’s financial systems. However, meeting a set of conditions established by the FATF is necessary for the country to be removed from the grey list.

“We have got to work, and there is a good chance that we have fulfilled all the conditions. But we are waiting for the final assessments,” said Amadou Coulibaly, Minister of Communication and government spokesperson, before adding: “We are hopeful because we have worked to meet all the conditions that were requested.”

As part of its mandate, the FATF conducts regular visits to Côte d’Ivoire. A visit by the organization recently took place. The government is now awaiting the conclusions of that visit to determine the country’s status.
