Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, launched construction of 420 social and affordable housing units in Yamoussoukro, as part of the government’s 25,000-housing emergency programme.
Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé officially launched the construction works for the project, which will provide housing through rent-to-own and standard rental arrangements.
The project is being carried out as part of the government programme under which the state mobilises financing, commissions the construction of housing and organises their allocation to the population.
The development will cover nearly three hectares in the Morofé Résidentiel district, near the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace.
It will comprise 21 five-storey buildings, each designated as R+4, with a total of 420 apartments.
The housing units will be divided equally between two categories: 210 three-room apartments and 210 four-room apartments.
The project has a total cost of more than 13.5 billion CFA francs and is financed under an agreement between the Ivorian state and the West African Development Bank (BOAD).
