Côte d’Ivoire represented at 18th World Policy Conference in France

Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nialé Kaba, represented President Alassane Ouattara at the opening of the 18th World Policy Conference (WPC), held in Chantilly, France, from April 24 to 26, 2026.

The conference, organized by Thierry de Montbrial, founder and president of the WPC, is held under the theme “Between fragmentation and interdependence: rethinking global governance.” It brings together heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, and experts to discuss major global challenges, including international trade, digital finance, budget governance, technological and climate changes, and global security.

Speaking alongside French Senate President Gérard Larcher, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, and Thierry de Montbrial, Nialé Kaba conveyed President Ouattara’s message, emphasizing the need to reform global governance systems to better reflect current global realities and the aspirations of nations.

She called for inclusive reforms of international institutions such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, advocating for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council. She also stressed the importance of a fair international financial system that supports developing countries in achieving sustainable development goals.

Kaba further highlighted the urgency of equitable climate financing and the need for global regulation of digital technologies to address risks such as disinformation, cyber threats, and non-state military use.

Côte d’Ivoire’s participation in the conference reflects its commitment to strengthening its role in global discussions and promoting responsible governance, lasting peace, and inclusive development.
