Côte d’Ivoire is stepping up efforts to attract Brazilian tourists and investors as it prepares to host a delegation of Brazilian journalists, travel professionals and institutional representatives from Sept. 4 to 11, 2026.
The initiative, organized by TAAG Linhas Aéreas in partnership with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Tourism and Leisure and its office in Rio de Janeiro, will take the form of a familiarization and press tour designed to showcase the country’s tourism, culture, gastronomy and business opportunities.
The delegation will travel from São Paulo to Abidjan via Luanda, using the new São Paulo–Luanda–Abidjan air connection inaugurated in April 2026. The route is seen as an important link between Brazil and West Africa and could help facilitate tourism and business exchanges between the two regions.
After arriving in Abidjan on Sept. 5, the Brazilian delegation is expected to spend five days exploring Côte d’Ivoire through visits to major infrastructure projects, professional meetings, cultural experiences and tours of some of the country’s most prominent landscapes and tourist attractions.
The programme is being promoted by Tourism Minister Siandou Fofana as part of a broader strategy to strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s presence on international tourism markets and diversify its visitor base.
Beyond tourism promotion, Abidjan wants to use the initiative to strengthen economic and cultural ties between Latin America and West Africa while positioning the Ivorian capital as a regional aviation and tourism hub.
The campaign also builds on Côte d’Ivoire’s increased international visibility following its hosting of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations, which helped showcase the country’s infrastructure, cultural heritage and tourism potential to a wider international audience.
The initiative highlights Côte d’Ivoire’s growing focus on tourism diplomacy as the country seeks to attract more visitors, strengthen international connectivity and turn cultural and tourism assets into new economic opportunities.
