Côte d’Ivoire: Climate Finance Workshop Highlights Need for Resilient Growth and Stronger Advocacy

At the opening of the advocacy activation workshop under the Transformative Climate Finance Programme (TCFP) in Côte d’Ivoire, held on April 27, 2026, in Abidjan, the Director General for Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, Dr. Gustave Aboa, highlighted the country’s commitment to resilient and inclusive economic growth in the face of the urgent challenge of climate change.

According to Dr. Gustave Aboa, the workshop aims to bring together key stakeholders to consolidate and reactivate a group of experts by identifying concrete and quickly achievable actions in order to deliver tangible results in climate finance. “This meeting provides an opportunity to relaunch Côte d’Ivoire’s national capacity-building improvement plan, revisit priorities, and strengthen institutional ownership,” he stated.

He also recalled the tangible impacts of climate change on the Ivorian economy, particularly in the agricultural sector and among vulnerable rural populations.

The sectoral coordinator for the public sector under the Country Capacity Strengthening Programme (PPRC), Ludovic Kouamé, emphasized the importance of advocacy as a lever to guide public policies and mobilize the necessary resources.

Through the adoption of a clear roadmap aligned with African standards and the implementation of concrete and rapid actions, the African Union’s Green Recovery Action Plan, according to the representative of the PPRC coordinator, aims to transform the impacts of climate change into opportunities for sustainable development, particularly for the most vulnerable rural communities.
