The construction of the National Center for Radiotherapy and Medical Oncology (CNROM) in Grand-Bassam is progressing significantly. During a site visit on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Coverage, Pierre N’gou Dimba, observed the remarkable progress of this strategic healthcare infrastructure, initiated under the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara. He was accompanied by the Minister Delegate in charge of Technical Education, Jean-Louis Moulot, who is also the Mayor of Grand-Bassam.
To date, structural work is 99% complete, while the overall project completion rate stands at 65%. The facility is scheduled to be delivered in June 2026.
Designed to strengthen specialized healthcare services in Côte d’Ivoire, the CNROM aims to provide the population with access to advanced cancer treatment within the country, in line with international standards. According to the minister, this strategic infrastructure will enable Ivorians to receive effective treatment at home with quality standards comparable to leading global healthcare systems.
Built on more than five hectares, the future center is expected to become a regional reference in West Africa. It will be equipped with state-of-the-art medical technologies, including a PET scan, advanced imaging systems, modern radiotherapy units, and cutting-edge diagnostic tools.
Once operational, the CNROM will significantly improve cancer care through early diagnosis, reduced treatment delays from several weeks to less than one week and increased access to advanced treatments without the need for medical evacuation abroad.
Given the strategic importance of the project for the Ivorian healthcare system, Minister Pierre N’gou Dimba instructed technical teams to strengthen coordination and maintain the pace of work to ensure deadlines are met.
