The implementation of Côte d’Ivoire’s climate commitments under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0) will require the mobilization of over $62 billion by 2030, according to Indira Yanni-Domingo, Deputy Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition.
She was representing the Minister Abou Bamba on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in Grand-Bassam, at the opening of the national consultation workshop for the development of the NDC 3.0 investment plan.
The workshop brought together more than 200 stakeholders from the national climate ecosystem, including public decision-makers, sector experts, private sector representatives, technical and financial partners, and civil society organizations. Its objective is to identify, structure, and prioritize projects that will contribute to the effective implementation of the country’s climate commitments.
Key sectors covered include energy and transport, agriculture, forestry and land use, industrial processes, waste and sanitation, health, blue economy and coastal zones, as well as resilient infrastructure and cities.
“This workshop aims to co-develop, with all national stakeholders, a fully operational NDC 3.0 investment plan based on concrete, prioritized, and bankable projects. It is designed to structure resource mobilization, strengthen the effective implementation of climate commitments, and enhance the credibility and transparency of Côte d’Ivoire’s climate action,” she explained.
“Beyond figures and commitments, the goal is to build a sustainable future for our populations, strengthen the resilience of our territories, and position Côte d’Ivoire as a key player in Africa’s climate transition,” she added.
For his part, Guillaume Vermeulen, Low-Carbon Transition (LCT) Project Manager representing Expertise France Country Director, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment:
“Expertise France, alongside its partners, is fully engaged through the Low-Carbon Transition project to support this dynamic and help build a more resilient, competitive Côte d’Ivoire, better prepared for future climate challenges.”
It should be recalled that Côte d’Ivoire adopted its NDC 3.0 in November 2025. These commitments set ambitious targets for 2035 and 2050, including:
- a 33% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
- an increase in renewable energy to 46% of the energy mix
- the restoration of 1.5 million hectares of forests
- and the protection of 70% of designated areas
