Dinner in honor of ifc ceo: côte d’ivoire and the ifc lay foundations for pnd 2026–2030

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Ministry of Planning and Development hosted a dinner in honor of Mr. Makhtar DIOP, Chief Executive Officer of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), as a gesture of respect befitting a strategic partnership.

The evening brought together, alongside the Minister of Planning and Development, Dr. Souleymane DIARRASSOUBA, key figures including Mr. Fidèle SARASSORO, Minister and Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic, the Ministers in charge of Housing, Tourism, National Education, and Digital Transition, as well as representatives from the private sector and the United Nations system.

Their presence reflects a shared belief: the PND 2026–2030 embodies a strategic state, fully mobilized to drive the country’s economic and social transformation with coherence and determination.

With a budget exceeding $206 billion, nearly double that of the previous plan, it represents an unprecedented commitment, with 70.2% contributed by national, regional, and international private investors.

The Minister emphasized that this mobilization is rooted in the vision of the President of the Republic, H.E. Alassane OUATTARA, to “build a Great, Prosperous, and United Nation,” a vision for which the PND serves as a precise and rigorously planned instrument.

Dr. DIARRASSOUBA also highlighted a decade of cooperation with the IFC, whose financing has helped structure strategic agricultural sectors, strengthen the national energy system, and expand access to credit for thousands of Ivorian SMEs. Building on this track record, he invited the IFC to fully engage in the International Advisory Group planned under the PND 2026–2030, a platform designed to mobilize additional financing from private investors worldwide.

“We know we can count on our development partners, with particular regard to the International Finance Corporation, to meet the challenge of operationalizing the PND 2026–2030,” Dr. Souleymane DIARRASSOUBA stated.

Mr. Makhtar Diop responded to these projections with the prudence and discernment expected of a leader fully aware of the stakes.

Praising the achievements under the President’s leadership and the country’s remarkable stability in a region often challenged, he reaffirmed the IFC’s commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire in all its development initiatives.

His conviction goes beyond financial logic. Supporting this country, he affirmed, is reinforcing a pillar of stability from which the entire West African region benefits.

It is within this framework that the Ministry of Planning and Development continues to strengthen its network of strategic partners in preparation for the International Advisory Group, a decisive forum for mobilizing private financing for the PND 2026–2030.
