Presiding over the official celebration of National Peace Day on November 15, 2024, in Fresco, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé emphasized that unity among Ivorians is essential to making Côte d’Ivoire the African champion of peace.
“It is time to write a new and glorious chapter for our nation. Together, with every Ivorian, we will achieve the goal of making Côte d’Ivoire Africa's peace champion,” declared the Prime Minister.
The Minister of National Cohesion, Solidarity, and the Fight Against Poverty, Myss Belmonde Dogo, urged the nation's stakeholders to continue promoting peace for a more united and cohesive Côte d’Ivoire.
“We encourage you to tirelessly adopt behaviors that promote peace to build a harmonious society based on social cohesion and lasting peace,” she said to the crowd gathered for the celebration.
According to the Minister, all social groups, especially youth, women, and community leaders, must join forces to undertake initiatives that safeguard peace in Côte d’Ivoire, particularly as the country faces a significant challenge in 2025: the presidential election.
“Peace is never guaranteed. It is like a precious object that must be nurtured daily. All citizens must work together in a spirit of solidarity to maintain this peaceful climate,” she added.
The theme for this year’s National Peace Day celebration in Fresco was “United in Our Diversity: Strengthening Solidarity and National Cohesion, Pillars of Inclusive Development in Lasting Peace.”
The event featured various activities, including a parade of the region's indigenous, resident, and migrant communities, symbolizing social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
As part of the celebration, a monument was unveiled by government officials, designating Fresco as a city of peace.
