Abidjan, May 21, 2025 – A solar power plant, with an investment cost estimated at 33 billion FCFA and an annual production capacity of 85,934 MWh, will be built in Katiola, the capital of the Hambol region, announced government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly at the end of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan-Plateau.
“The Council of Ministers has adopted a decree approving the concession agreement known as the Katiola-Solar Power Convention, for the design, financing, construction, full ownership, operation, and maintenance of a solar power plant in the Hambol region, in Katiola. This agreement was signed in December 2024 for a duration of twenty-five years,” explained Amadou Coulibaly, who also serves as Minister of Communication.
He emphasized that the decree approves the terms of the agreement and paves the way for its implementation in accordance with the existing legislation governing electric energy.
