Abidjan, April 23, 2025 – As part of the implementation of the Government's Social Program (PSGouv), the government plans to build 129 high schools and colleges in 2025, including 15 girls’ high schools and 114 community colleges.
This announcement was made by government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly at the conclusion of the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Abidjan.
According to Minister Amadou Coulibaly, as of the end of December 2024, the implementation of PSGouv has significantly improved the living conditions of the population through concrete and targeted actions.
For instance, in the northern border areas, 213 classrooms were built, including 92 for preschool education, along with the distribution of 981,275 school kits, 897,002 textbooks, and 21,800 school benches.
Access to education was also strengthened with the completion of 19 community colleges and the creation of 60 literacy centers.
Regarding access to electricity, electrification efforts surpassed the set objectives, with 1,836 localities covered between 2022 and 2024, including 638 in 2024 alone, raising the national coverage rate to 94.33%. One of the key goals is to reach 100% electrification coverage, ensuring all areas of the country have access to energy to accelerate Côte d’Ivoire’s economic and social development.
In addition, 7,802 manually operated water pumps were repaired and 618 replaced, thereby improving access to drinking water.
Road infrastructure maintenance and modernization led to the rehabilitation of 14,609 kilometers of roads. Access to healthcare was also enhanced with the construction and renovation of 85 health facilities and the collection of 298,114 blood bags in 2024.
Support for vulnerable populations was reflected through assistance to 330,000 households via social safety nets, with 42.948 billion CFA francs redistributed.
