The Ivorian government, through Françoise Remarck, is determined to make the monetization of digital content a reality in Côte d’Ivoire by 2026. To this end, the Minister of Culture and Francophonie shared valuable insights with the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) during a working session on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the headquarters of the institution, which is headed by René Bourgoin.
At the request of the CEOs of Universal Music Africa, Warner Music Africa Francophone, and Sony Music Afrique Francophone, as well as other stakeholders in the music industry, Minister Françoise Remarck leveraged her experience in other sectors to help make digital content monetization a reality as soon as possible, notably by 2026.
Following the discussions, a working group was established, bringing together the ministries responsible for Culture, Communication, and Digital Transition and Technological Innovation, along with all relevant stakeholders. The group will conduct structured, inclusive, and equitable reflections aimed at strengthening the rights of Ivorian creators and enabling them to earn a decent living from their talent and creativity in the digital era. This initiative aligns with the consistent commitment of President Alassane Ouattara to ensure that every Ivorian can have a decent income.
It is worth noting that many artists, despite being adored by music lovers, currently do not earn income under the existing system. This inequity is set to be addressed thanks to the strong commitment of the Ivorian authorities.
