Abidjan, July 10, 2025 – The Minister of National Education and Literacy, Mariatou Koné, presided over the official ceremony for the presentation and handover of the Education Management Information System (SIGE) on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Abidjan. The event took place in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Adama Diawara, and the United States Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Jessica Davis Ba.
In her address, Minister Mariatou Koné praised the development of this tool, which reflects an ambitious vision for effective and transparent educational governance based on reliable data.
"SIGE represents a major step forward. It marks the digital transformation and growing demand for performance in the national education system. It is an integrated system capable of collecting and analyzing educational data."
According to her, SIGE addresses a pressing need of the Ivorian government to have real-time access to essential educational data for strategic decision-making aimed at improving the education system.
She further explained that this new platform promotes better internal and institutional coordination around the educational, social, and professional paths of both students and teachers.
On a strategic level, SIGE is expected to enable more rigorous, proactive, and equitable management of the education system. It will provide real-time disaggregated indicators, thus facilitating resource planning, monitoring of policy implementation, evaluation of their impact, and enhancing the ministry’s ability to account for its actions accurately.
For her part, Ambassador Jessica Davis Ba expressed the United States' pride in contributing to this digital innovation aimed at strengthening Côte d'Ivoire’s capacity to build a modern, equitable, and high-quality education system. The U.S. diplomat reiterated that investing in education is a top priority for her government and expressed her country’s commitment to supporting Côte d'Ivoire on its path toward shared prosperity and social justice.
It should be noted that SIGE is part of the implementation of the Skills Project under the Compact Program, supported by the Millennium Challenge Account-Côte d'Ivoire (MCA-CI).
