Abidjan, October 7, 2025 — The Prime Minister, Dr. Robert Beugré Mambé, officially inaugurated the Centre d’Animation et de Formation Pédagogique (CAFOP) of Anyama, now the largest teacher training center in Côte d’Ivoire in terms of size and capacity.
“The development of school infrastructure and institutions dedicated to teacher training has become crucial. This is the spirit behind the construction of the Anyama CAFOP, built on a 7-hectare site. It is the largest in our country in terms of space and capacity,” said Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé.
With an investment of over 12 billion CFA francs, fully financed by the Public Treasury, the new CAFOP is equipped with modern facilities and state-of-the-art teaching equipment. The infrastructure includes 28 buildings, featuring amphitheaters, 24 classrooms, specialized rooms, a library, sports facilities, a primary school, and housing for student-teachers.
This institution will strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s capacity to train more teachers under optimal conditions, in line with President Alassane Ouattara’s vision of significantly improving the quality of the national education system through better teacher training.
The Prime Minister recalled that in 2011, the country had 12 CAFOPs. With the addition of Anyama, Bondoukou, San Pedro, and Boundiali, Côte d’Ivoire now boasts 16 CAFOPs nationwide. Since 2011, more than 90,000 student-teachers have been trained.
For Mariatou Koné, Minister of National Education, this new center reflects the government’s strong commitment to making education a key driver of social, cultural, and economic transformation. It embodies the President’s ambition to place human capital development at the heart of national progress.
Designed primarily for initial training of primary school teachers, the Anyama CAFOP will also play a major role in continuing education for preschool, primary, and secondary teachers.
