In just a decade, Côte d'Ivoire has established four new public universities: the University of Man and the Virtual University, both opened in 2015, the University of San Pedro, opened in 2021, and the University of Bondoukou in 2023.

The University of Man offers programs in Agroforestry, Tourism, Mining and Geology, Energy, Metallurgy, and Mechanics, among others. These specific fields are tailored to meet the socio-economic needs of the country.
"There are very few engineers in Mining and Geology in Côte d'Ivoire. With proper training, we will be qualified engineers to fill the gap and serve our country," explains Joëlle Yao.
The University of San Pedro is built on a total area of 302 hectares and houses the UFR (Faculty) of Marine Sciences, the UFR of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agro-Industry Resources, and the UFR of Tourism, Hospitality, and Catering.
Students express satisfaction with the quality of education provided at these universities, which are positioning themselves as centers of excellence.
"Everything is done to ensure a good understanding of the courses. The teachers are attentive to our needs," says Gémima Goh, a student at the University of San Pedro.
These thematic universities are equipped with modern infrastructure and equipment to offer students an environment conducive to learning. They boast spacious lecture halls, well-equipped laboratories, internet access...
As of today, Côte d'Ivoire has nine public universities located in Abidjan, Bouaké, Daloa, Korhogo, San Pedro, Man, and Bondoukou.
They are the tangible result of the Ivorian government's policy to effectively meet the educational needs of the country's youth.
