Port of Abidjan Strengthens Partnership Talks with EBRD to Accelerate Modernization Projects

The Acting Director General of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan, Kassoum Traoré, received a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. The delegation was led by Asari Jane Efiong and Lissa Ba.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the delegation to present the EBRD’s missions and areas of intervention following its recent establishment in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as the financial and technical support mechanisms available to businesses.

During the discussions, Asari Jane Efiong stated that the EBRD is willing to support the Autonomous Port of Abidjan through financing solutions and technical assistance tailored to the needs of its development and modernization projects in the short, medium, and long term.

For his part, Kassoum Traoré reaffirmed the port authority’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with leading international financial institutions capable of sustainably supporting the transformation and competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan platform.

The discussions identified several areas of common interest that could benefit from future cooperation, including land management issues, the development of barge freight transport, the improvement of logistics connectivity, and various major infrastructure and port logistics projects.

Through this cooperation framework, the Autonomous Port of Abidjan aims to accelerate the implementation of its strategic projects, enhance infrastructure performance, and further strengthen its position as a leading logistics and port hub in West Africa.
