Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé visited a resettlement site on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, comprising nearly 3,000 developed lots spanning 36 hectares in Adonkoi 1, located in the Anyama municipality within Greater Abidjan. This site will house residents from the Gesco neighborhood in Yopougon and Boribana in Anyama, displaced from areas prone to flooding, landslides, and ground collapses.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the President of the National Assembly, Adama Bictogo, who is also the Mayor of Yopougon, along with the Ministers of Construction, Housing, and Urban Planning, Bruno Nabagné Koné, and Equipment and Road Maintenance, Amédé Koffi Kouakou.
“We have assessed the area designated to resettle our brothers and sisters displaced from flood-prone zones. Here, we have nearly 3,000 lots to be allocated to them,” stated Robert Beugré Mambé.
According to the Prime Minister, the site will be equipped with several facilities, including paved roads, schools, community spaces, a market, healthcare centers, cultural and communal spaces, and places of worship. For electricity, the emphasis will be on solar energy. In addition, support programs will be developed to enable women and youth to engage in income-generating activities.
“This will be a well-developed, privileged area to welcome our brothers and sisters who had to leave flood-prone zones. Strong social measures will be taken for them. President Alassane Ouattara is committed to ensuring this is done promptly,” he emphasized.
