The Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy of Côte d’Ivoire, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, currently serving as President of the Organization of African Petroleum Producers (APPO), held a working session with the Secretary General of the Organization on Friday, January 30, 2026, in Abidjan Plateau.
Farid Ghezali, recently appointed Secretary General of APPO by the Council of Ministers of member countries, paid a courtesy visit to the President on Friday, January 30, 2026, to present his New Year greetings. He was accompanied by Zakaria Dosso, Director of the Africa Energy Investment Corporation (Aeicorp). During the meeting, the Secretary General took the opportunity to present to the Minister his roadmap for the first year of his mandate and sought guidance from the APPO President to further enrich this strategic document.
In turn, the APPO President congratulated the new Secretary General and also extended his New Year wishes. Sangafowa-Coulibaly praised the relevance of the actions proposed by the Secretary General and encouraged him to continue implementing the ongoing reforms, focusing on clear and measurable objectives.
The APPO President emphasized the importance for the organization to adapt to the evolving realities of the energy industry as well as the international geopolitical context, while maintaining a forward-looking vision. He also outlined to the Secretary General the major strategic directions he intends to follow closely, to ensure compliance with the guidelines established by himself and his peers.
