State Allocates 98 Billion FCFA for Reforestation of 140,000 Hectares

The State of Côte d'Ivoire has mobilized more than 98 billion FCFA for the reforestation of approximately 140,000 hectares of classified forests and degraded rural forests. This information was announced by the government spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, following the Council of Ministers meeting on June 4, 2025, in Abidjan.

“The Council adopted a decree ratifying the financing contract totaling 150 million euros, or a little over 98 billion FCFA, concluded on November 11, 2024, between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire for the funding of the sustainable forest restoration program,” declared the government spokesperson.

According to Amadou Coulibaly, the financing covered by the agreement will be specifically used for the reforestation of about 140,000 hectares of classified forests and rural forests. The financing of the sustainable forest restoration program aims to support ongoing initiatives for the protection and preservation of classified forests and degraded rural forests.
