Validation Workshop on Literacy Data Tools Begins in Yamoussoukro

A workshop aimed at validating specific data collection tools for Literacy and Non-Formal Education (AENF) opened on Monday, October 14, 2024, in Yamoussoukro. The event was attended by Kam Oleh, Technical Advisor representing the Minister of National Education and Literacy.

Organized by the Directorate of Coordination and Monitoring of Literacy Programs (DCSPA), the workshop is financed by the Basic Education System Strengthening Program (PRSEB) and will continue until October 18. Its goal is to harmonize and validate data collection tools to improve the quality of information available for better management of this sub-sector.

“Quality data will enable our government to better understand the AENF sub-sector and take appropriate measures for its development,” said Kam Oleh. Speaking on behalf of Minister Mariatou Koné, he commended the DCSPA for its initiative to strengthen the sub-sector by addressing the gaps in reliable and up-to-date data.

Yvette Kouassy, Director of DCSPA, presented the tools under review during the workshop. These include a compliance control tool, an interview guide on beneficiary satisfaction with AENF programs, and a specific data collection tool. She expressed gratitude to the PRSEB for its technical and financial support, which is crucial in providing the sub-sector with reliable statistics.

In addition to the DCSPA, the workshop was attended by the Regional Director of National Education and Literacy of Yamoussoukro, central directors, and heads of departments from the Ministry of National Education and Literacy (MENA), representatives from other involved ministries, Literacy supervisors, as well as representatives from UNESCO and UNICEF.

This workshop marks a significant step toward improving data accuracy and ensuring better decision-making for the development of Literacy and Non-Formal Education in Côte d'Ivoire.
