On Friday, November 8, 2024, the Minister of National Education and Literacy, Mariatou Koné, inaugurated a new public primary school in Yapokoi, located in the Yakassé-Attobrou department (in the south of Côte d'Ivoire, in the La Mé region, near Adzopé, 103 km from the capital Abidjan)

Several prominent figures attended the event, including former Prime Minister Jérôme Patrick Achi, President of the Mé Regional Council, and Alexandre Mérieux, President of the Biomerieux Group, whose company helped finance the project.

Minister Mariatou Koné highlighted the significance of this civic initiative by the Augustin Foundation, which contributes to enhancing the national education system. “Your commitment demonstrates true solidarity toward our younger generations and provides invaluable support to government efforts to make education accessible and of high quality,” she stated. She also expressed the government’s gratitude to all companies and organizations, like Biomerieux, that are involved in promoting education.

Patrick Achi, pleased with the completion of this school in his regional jurisdiction, emphasized that education is a fundamental pillar for a nation’s development. Alexandre Mérieux, President of BioMérieux, reaffirmed his company’s commitment to supporting such initiatives for the well-being of communities.
