Youth Entrepreneurs in Gbêkê Thrive with Government Support

In the Gbêkê Region, many young project leaders have turned to the local Youth Employment Agency (Agence Emploi Jeunes). Through the Government’s Youth Program, designed to combat youth unemployment, they obtained funding that enabled them to strengthen their businesses or bring their projects to life.

Today, as owners of income-generating businesses in Bouaké, Béoumi, and Sakassou, they share their success stories.

“I was able to purchase equipment to improve my performance thanks to the loan I received from the Youth Employment Agency. It is encouraging to see that the government is paying attention to young entrepreneurs like us,” says Romaric Lokou, a glazier based in Sakassou.

“I encourage all young people to apply. If they meet the eligibility requirements, they can benefit from loans to start or expand their businesses, just as I did,” says Pénin Soro, owner of a grocery store in Béoumi.

“I first received a loan of 500,000 CFA francs and, after repaying it, I obtained a second loan of one million CFA francs. Today, I employ seven young women, and I am able to support my family,” explains Abena Koman, a hairdresser in Bouaké.

“The loan allowed me to strengthen my business activities and expand my restaurant. I now employ four people,” says Apo Attoungbré, owner of a local restaurant in Béoumi.

According to the government’s report, between 2011 and 2025, a total of 1,958,646 employment and professional integration opportunities were provided to young people through several major government programs aimed at promoting youth employment and entrepreneurship.
