Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé Announces Ambitious Goal for Nationwide Potable Water Access by 2030 in Bouaflé

Bouaflé, August 2, 2024 – In a major step towards improving water accessibility across Côte d'Ivoire, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé announced the government's ambitious goal to ensure that all cities in the country have access to potable water by 2030. This announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of a new water supply system in Bouaflé on August 2, 2024.

Prime Minister Mambé emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Alassane Ouattara's commitment to enhancing the quality of life throughout the nation. "The President’s focus is on bringing well-being to all regions of Côte d'Ivoire. This new water tower and its associated distribution system will provide high-quality water, combat waterborne diseases, and improve public health," Mambé stated.

The Prime Minister highlighted that since 2012, the Ivorian government has invested nearly 600 billion CFA francs in the construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure. "These investments are part of a broader vision. By 2030, and under President Ouattara's leadership, we aim to ensure that every city and population in Côte d'Ivoire has access to potable water," he added.

Minister of Hydraulics, Sanitation, and Cleanliness, Bouaké Fofana, noted that the newly inaugurated water production station in Bouaflé will meet the potable water needs of over 100,000 people in the Marahoué region. The facility includes an 8,000 m³ treatment station, a 1,000 m³ water tower, and extensive piping. This project is part of a larger initiative to enhance water supply in 12 cities, with a total investment of approximately 170 billion CFA francs.

The ceremony was attended by various government officials and ministers responsible for water and sanitation from Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, and Chad, underscoring the regional significance of the project.

This new infrastructure represents a significant milestone in Côte d'Ivoire's efforts to provide reliable and clean water to its citizens, reflecting the government’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and public health.
