Forum on Improving Primary Education in Africa: Minister Mariatou Koné Calls for Concrete Commitments

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the forum on improving primary education in Africa, organized by the Conference of Ministers of States and Governments of the Francophonie (CONFEMEN), opened in Dakar, Senegal. The theme of the forum is "Learning for Tomorrow."

In her opening remarks, Ivorian Minister of National Education and Literacy, Mariatou Koné, who is also the current President of CONFEMEN, urged all stakeholders to make concrete commitments. “Dear participants, our children deserve the best, and it is our responsibility to provide them with a bright future. I wish you enriching moments of sharing, fruitful discussions, and, most importantly, concrete commitments toward improving education in our world,” she emphasized.

The Senegalese Minister of Public Service, Olivier Boucal, who represented the Minister of National Education, praised the organization of the forum and the presence of Mariatou Koné as the current president of CONFEMEN.

Over the next three days, this forum, which will feature panels, discussions, and the exchange of experiences, will bring together representatives from 21 countries, along with decision-makers from the World Bank and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The aim is to find practical solutions to significantly improve the literacy and numeracy skills of students across Africa.
