President Alassane Ouattara Pays Tribute to Pope François

On Monday, April 21, 2025, President Alassane Ouattara expressed his deep sorrow following the passing of His Holiness Pope François, who died at the age of 88 at the Vatican, on Easter Monday.

In an official statement posted on his Facebook page, the Ivorian Head of State paid tribute to “a tireless advocate for peace and social justice.” He emphasized the Pope’s unwavering commitment to the most vulnerable and his vision of a fairer and more environmentally respectful world.

“His commitment to the most vulnerable and his determination to build a peaceful, fairer world that respects the environment will remain engraved in our memories,” President Ouattara said.

On behalf of the Ivorian people, the President extended his heartfelt condolences to Catholics around the world.

Pope François, the first pontiff from the Americas, will be remembered for his humility, closeness to the people, and his relentless call for universal brotherhood
