Senegal and Ivory Coast Reignite Economic Cooperation with New Agreement

In a significant move to bolster economic ties, Senegalese Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Mme Yacine FALL, has arrived in Côte d'Ivoire for the grand Joint Commission of Cooperation between Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal. This high-profile visit marks the first time the commission has convened in a decade and aims to rejuvenate economic collaboration between the two West African nations.

During her visit, Mme FALL took the opportunity to pay her respects to the President of Côte d'Ivoire and seek his guidance. She emphasized the importance of this meeting as a critical step towards revitalizing economic relations, explaining that experts from various Senegalese ministries have joined her in Abidjan to discuss and define practical measures for enhancing economic links with their Ivorian counterparts.

The work began on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, and will conclude on Thursday, August 1, 2024, with the signing of a new agreement designed to solidify economic cooperation and solidarity between Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal. This accord is anticipated to pave the way for a new era of bilateral collaboration, with potential benefits for both nations' economies and broader regional integration.
