Côte d'Ivoire Secures Funding for Abidjan Port Cereal Terminal
The government has mobilized 9.8 billion CFA for the financing of Phase II of the cereal terminal construction project at the Port of Abidjan. The announcement was made by the Minister of Communication and government spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, following the Council of Ministers meeting on May 22, 2024, in Abidjan.
"The Council has adopted a decree ratifying the loan agreement of 9.8 billion CFA, concluded on March 10, 2024, between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, for the financing of Phase II of the construction project of the cereal terminal at the Port of Abidjan," stated Amadou Coulibaly.
The project includes the construction of a cereal terminal, a storage area, and related facilities to increase the cargo handling capacity of the Port of Abidjan. Ultimately, the project aims to enhance and ensure Côte d'Ivoire's competitiveness in foreign trade and cereal markets.
