Regional Workshop on Examining and Validating Regulatory and Institutional Documents for the Africa-to-Africa Gas Pipeline Project

A regional workshop to examine and validate the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) and Host Country Agreement (HGA) for the unique Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project commenced on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, in Abidjan. The event saw the participation of Jean-Baptiste Aka, Cabinet Director representing the Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, and Bayaornibè Dabiré, Director of Energy and Mines at the ECOWAS Commission.

"Far more than just an energy infrastructure, the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline is a transformative force for our region, a tool for international cooperation, and a catalyst for economic prosperity," emphasized the representative of Minister Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly.

Jean-Baptiste Aka highlighted that the IGA and HGA are crucial for ensuring transparent and effective governance, facilitating regional integration, and stimulating economic development. "Together, we have the capacity to turn this vision into reality and make the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project a success model for our region and beyond," he stated.

Bayaornibè Dabiré reaffirmed the ECOWAS Commission’s commitment to supporting the success of this integrative energy project.

Hydrocarbons sector experts are participating in the workshop, which will run until August 30, 2024.
