Côte d'Ivoire and AFD Sign Funding Agreements for Key Sectors

The Minister of Finance and Budget, Adama Coulibaly, the French Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Jean-Christophe Belliard, and the Director of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Côte d'Ivoire, Adrien Haye, signed several financing agreements on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Abidjan-Plateau. These agreements, totaling nearly 106 billion FCFA, focus on urban mobility, health, and financial governance sectors.

The Abidjan Inter-Modality Project (AIM), with a sovereign loan of 72.15 billion FCFA, aims to facilitate the daily transport of 6.3 million inhabitants of Greater Abidjan. It includes the construction of 32 interchange hubs between different public transport modes and approximately 180 bus stops throughout the metropolitan area.

The Health Human Resources Strengthening Program (RHS), with a total of 23.94 billion FCFA, aims to enhance training and increase the availability of healthcare personnel, ultimately improving access to quality healthcare for all.

The Financial Governance Support Project (GovFi), with a budget of 9.84 billion FCFA financed from the 3rd Debt Reduction-Development Contract (C2D), aims to improve the performance of public financial management to support economic growth and development.
