Ivorian Minister Aims to Transform Mining and Energy Sectors for Sustainable Growth

In a recent statement, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, outlined his vision to elevate the country's mining and energy sectors as key drivers of sustainable and robust growth. Speaking at the opening of a workshop dedicated to validating the national energy and mineral resources policy on Monday, July 29, 2024, in Abidjan Port-Bouët, Coulibaly emphasized the strategic importance of these sectors.

"Your primary reference will be the vision of President Alassane Ouattara, which aims to leverage mineral resources and energy to initiate a new phase of sustained and durable growth for the country," Coulibaly stated.

The minister highlighted the need to identify strategic directions that will enable the mining, petroleum, and energy sectors to become high-performing and distinctive pillars of wealth creation for Côte d'Ivoire.

"I expect a critical examination of the proposed elements, with an open and constructive mindset, free from censorship and self-censorship," Coulibaly added.

The workshop, set to conclude on August 2, 2024, brings together experts, consultants, and technical and financial partners to refine and advance the country's policy framework in these crucial sectors.
