UNICEF is seeking a qualified Chief of Communication (P-4) to be based in Abidjan. Working under the direct supervision of the Country Representative, the incumbent will be responsible for developing, managing, coordinating, and evaluating the organization’s overall advocacy and communication strategy in Côte d’Ivoire.

This position aligns with the Country Programme Document (CPD 2026–2030), which supports the priorities of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan (NDP 2026–2030).

Key Responsibilities

• Communication Strategy and Advocacy: Design and implement tailored communication strategies to raise public awareness, build support, and advocate for children’s and women’s rights.
• Media Relations and Partnerships: Build and maintain strategic networks with local and international media, public institutions, celebrities, and UN system partners to amplify key messages.
• Campaigns and Resource Mobilization: Support UNICEF’s global communication priorities, drive national campaigns, and contribute to resource mobilization efforts.
• Management and Capacity Building: Lead the communication team, oversee monitoring and evaluation of communication activities, and support capacity building for internal teams and partners.

Candidate Profile

• Education: Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Work Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in communication, print, broadcast, or new media. Relevant experience in both national and international settings, as well as familiarity with emergency contexts, is required.
• Language Requirements: Fluency in French and English (written and spoken). Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset.
• Additional Assets: Prior experience within the UN system, expertise in writing data-driven reports, and exposure to humanitarian and development settings.
